working for Consistancy

A place to ask those dark and personal questions: Will I ever be a World Champ, why do I fall off a lot, why is he sooo fast?

working for Consistancy

Postby hitch hiker » Thu Jul 29, 2010 11:19 pm

My first outing on my new rs125 at Stanthorp on the weekend saw
my smile rise halfway up the staight on the first lap,
Then as it took me through the set of curves headed for the back straight
It was implanted
impressed , I tried to get as smooth as I could
thinking all the time I'm not really ready to race this thing
ten laps later and practice was over
looking at the times for grid positions,I was a little confused to
see my name on the 1 spot
a mistake or what the hell ? Oh! Well maybe
everyone else was being careful, should I have been more careful?
Well the first race set me straight,
of the 20 bikes in the field I'm sure everyone of them including myself was infront of me
something was telling me I was geared a little high
but it sure was a nice feeling noticing that the bigger bikes couldn't
carry the speed through the corners
anyway a fifth, third, second place front end loose on some
sand on the track then an exhausted fifth saw my day out
I'd had enough , runing the bucket and rs gave me eight races
and two practice sessions so Sunday I just ran the bucket
to chill back a bit
a few of the boys were giving me some encouragement telling
me I had done the fastest lap of the day with a 36.3 something
then some pornstar gave me a reality check when he told me
this aircooled bloke was into the 36's on a dt175 powerd antique
and some kid had gone around in the 33's some time ago
at this stage I'd be happy with consistant 37's
just lovin the whole process
happy days

Was good to see you out there Dan. You rode very well for your 1st time onboard the RS. I just hope that you make the trek up for the Warwick rounds so we can have some more ontrack fun.
Dont think I know of anyone who has ridden an RS that hasnt been hooked. Welcome to the fold.

more like the the f8 but with less 8
the old DT was Ron, even more impressive was his 39 on his (3yo) commuterlite.
There are some vids on the qemsc site.

Some good onboard footage from one of the races. Dan (aka Hitch Hiker) gets past the diesels a little quicker but Robbo (#17)and I (#55) still managed to get past him in the last lap for a 1 and 2 finish  Was some good close racing. And a few stuff ups from me...running wide, missing gears....Not many passing opportunities at Stanthorp either and with laptimes in the 36's, it makes for a bloody fast race.
Its funny looking at yourself in videos. As Tim Gilpin would say "I look like a monkey fornicating a basketball".

Just found out the old man's got cancer :?: so not now as I'm heading
off to Sydney for some soul searching with him
maybe next time, but at least I'll ready myself with the apropriate
gearing
is there any more coming up that way? And what other gearing
would you sugest for your other tracks?
Good luck to you for the week end
have fun mate

Sorry to hear that news Dan. That is terrible. I hope he can get through it.
Both Steve and Neil are coming up from Sydney for this round. I think there are 17 in the 125GP and 250GP Mono class. Should be a lot of fun.
I hope to see you there soon. They will be opening the full track for next year as well, so that will be cool.
Steveo was on the money with the gearing too.
